Windy conditions may make for an interesting Masters 2016

If the Masters 2016 Tournament is anywhere near as out of the ordinary as the weather in Augusta will be this week, it should be quite a tournament! It will be a quiet week as far as rain is concerned with only one chance of rain late Wednesday night through Thursday morning, but a frost advisory is in effect through Wednesday morning, and temperatures will be as much as 12 degrees below average headed into the weekend. Perhaps the biggest factor will be the wind. Prolonged windy conditions are expected behind a cold front that will pass through Thursday morning with computer models currently indicating 20 to 30 mph winds Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Those are sustained winds too. Wind gusts could be upwards of 35 or possibly even 40 mph, especially for round 2 Friday. With conditions like that, weather could be an equalizer making it more possible than ever for an underdog to prevail.

Tuesday night – Frost advisory in effect. Clear and cold. Low in the middle 30s. East wind 3 to 8 mph.

Wednesday – Mostly sunny and pleasant. High in the upper 60s. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.

Wednesday night – Increasing clouds, windy and mild with a 40% chance of rain late. Low in the middle 50s. South wind 11 to 16 mph.

Thursday – Mostly cloudy with a 40% chance of rain and possibly a thunderstorm in the morning. High in the middle 70s. West to northwest wind 15 to 20 mph with 25 to 30 mph gusts.

Thursday night – Clearing, breezy and cool. Low in the upper 40s.

Friday – Sunny, windy and cool. High in the middle 60s. Northwest wind 20 to 30 mph with 30 to 40 mph gusts possible.

Friday night - Mostly clear, breezy and cool. Low in the middle 40s. North wind 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday – Sunny, windy and quite chilly. High near 60. North wind 10 to 20 mph with 20 to 25 mph gusts possible.

Saturday night- Clear, breezy and cold for April in Augusta. Low in the middle 30s. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday – Sunny and less windy. High in the upper 60s. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
