Nice weather continues Wednesday, watching severe weather threat late week
Good evening,
As expected, today was a cooler than average day in the CSRA with a high of 71 and low all the way down to 41 at Augusta Regional Airport, but the rest of the week will be much warmer ahead of our next cold front that could bring a chance for strong to severe thunderstorms near the end of the week. Wednesday will get off to another chilly start for March 30 with lows deep into the 40s courtesy of clear skies, light winds and very dry air. Most of Wednesday will be sunny with temperatures about 7 degrees warmer, but look out for a few clouds to move in later in the day. Thursday will be a pretty nice day overall with highs very close to 80 degrees, but rain chances will move in late in the day and become likely Thursday night into Friday. We are entering into the heart of severe weather season here in the Southeast, and our first legitimate shot at severe weather may be coming sometime between late Thursday and early Friday, although the timing is uncertain at best at this point. I still don't see this necessarily being an outbreak of severe storms, but given what time of year it is and the fact we are still three full days away, you will want to stay weather aware over the next few days (Of course, I always think you should, but I MAY be a little biased).
The weekend? Don't you worry about the weekend, unless you are cold natured. Plenty of sunshine can be expected Saturday and Sunday, but temperatures will be a few degrees below average with highs in the lower 70s and lows dipping to around 40 degrees Saturday night.
Here's your forecast for the Augusta area for the next couple of days:
